A cap sleeve is a very short sleeve that just covers the top of the shoulder and tapers away under the arm, with little or no fabric beneath. It gives a hint of a sleeve — more coverage than sleeveless, less than a short sleeve.
By covering just the shoulder and the very top of the arm, a cap sleeve offers a touch of coverage and softens the shoulder line while keeping the look light and summery.
It's the shortest sleeve length; lengthen it down the forearm and you move toward short, three-quarter, and full sleeves.
