Midi dress

A midi dress falls between the knee and the ankle, usually around mid-calf — longer than a mini (above the knee) and shorter than a maxi (to the ankle or floor). The midi length is versatile, working for both casual and dressy occasions.

The three standard lengths are simple once you know the landmarks: mini ends above the knee, midi lands mid-calf to just above the ankle, and maxi reaches the ankle or floor. Midi is the in-between length that's become a wardrobe default.

Midi length suits most heights, though where exactly it hits your calf changes the look — petite frames often size the hem carefully so it doesn't cut the leg at its widest point.
