Pintuck

A pintuck is a very narrow, stitched fold of fabric — typically just a few millimeters wide — sewn in parallel rows as a decorative and shaping detail. Pintucks add crisp, fine texture and subtle vertical structure to shirt and blouse fronts, dress bodices, and cuffs, lending a refined, tailored, slightly heritage look.

Rows of pintucks down a shirt front read as elegant and formal, while broader tucks add gentle shaping. Because they're stitched-down folds, they create texture without the volume of a gather or pleat.

A pintuck is essentially a miniature, decorative pleat, far finer and more delicate than the folds used in skirts or trousers.
