Cashmere

Cashmere is a luxury fibre combed from the soft undercoat of cashmere goats, exceptionally fine, light, and warm for its weight. It feels soft and insulating, which is why it commands a premium — though quality varies with fibre length and ply.

Cashmere's warmth-to-weight ratio is its draw: it insulates far better than its featherlight feel suggests. Quality hinges on the length and thickness of the fibres and the ply (how many strands are twisted together) — longer fibres pill less and last longer.

It's finer and more delicate than merino, and usually needs gentle washing or dry cleaning.
