Oversized fit

An oversized fit is a garment intentionally cut larger than your body — wider through the shoulders, chest, and body — as a deliberate design choice rather than a sizing mistake. Unlike sizing up, the proportions are drafted to drape loosely while still looking intentional.

The difference between an oversized fit and just buying a bigger size is where the extra room lands. A true oversized cut adds volume in planned places — dropped shoulder seams, a longer body, wider sleeves — so it looks designed rather than ill-fitting. Sizing up a regular garment usually just makes everything bigger, including the neck and armholes, which reads as sloppy.

Oversized pieces look best balanced against something fitted: an oversized tee with slim or straight jeans, or an oversized blazer over a close top. Pairing oversized with oversized can swallow your frame.
