Zara size chart & fit guide

Updated June 10, 2026 · By the TRYSHOP team

Ask anyone who shops at Zara and you'll hear the same two things: it runs small, and it's inconsistent. Both are true. Zara labels its clothes in EU numeric sizes with alpha letters on most garments, and the same letter can fit differently between collections — the TRF line is cut noticeably slimmer than Zara Woman.

Zara doesn't publish one static size chart; its official tool is a per-product size calculator. The measurements below are the commonly republished figures behind it, with EU, US, and UK conversions, plus the sizing rules seasoned Zara shoppers swear by.

Runs small

How does Zara fit?

The consensus is overwhelming: Zara runs small, especially in structured and fitted pieces, jeans, and the TRF (junior) line. Zara Basic sits closer to true to size and Zara Woman runs slightly more generous, but the safe default for anything fitted is one size up — and the brand's garment-to-garment consistency is loose enough that the per-product size tool is worth using every time.

  • Size up in jeans, blazers, structured dresses, and anything from the TRF line.
  • Zara Woman pieces run closest to true to size; TRF runs slimmest.
  • Use Zara's per-product size recommendation tool — fit genuinely varies between collections.
  • Remember the label is EU sizing: a Zara 38 is a US 6 and a UK 10.

Zara sizing FAQs

Does Zara run small?

Yes — Zara is one of the most consistently reported size-up brands on the high street. Structured pieces, jeans, and the TRF line run smallest; Zara Woman is closest to true to size. If you're between sizes or buying anything fitted, go up one.

What is my Zara size in US sizing?

Zara uses EU sizing: a Zara 34 is a US 2, a 36 is a US 4, a 38 is a US 6, a 40 is a US 8, and so on — each EU step of two equals one US dual-size. On most garments those correspond to XS through XXL, though the letter mapping shifts between collections.

Why does the same Zara size fit differently between items?

Zara runs several lines with different fit blocks — TRF is cut for a junior, slimmer frame, while Zara Woman is more generous — and garment-to-garment consistency is loose even within a line. That's why Zara's own size tool asks about the specific product rather than pointing to one chart.

Is a Zara medium the same as an H&M medium?

No. Zara's M maps to roughly EU 38, while H&M's M spans EU 40–42 — so an H&M medium is physically larger. Coming from H&M, expect to wear a size larger letter at Zara for the same fit.
